Oswego County Anti-Poverty Task Force
A Partnership of the County Legislature, County School Districts, and Community Leaders

Housing Team
Team Leader:
Doug Baldwin

Mission: Identify deficiencies in the support system for homeless persons and find ways to help the homeless back to normalcy.

Goal 1 - Increase the availability of safe housing options for those individuals and families experiencing homelessness and long term access to decent affordable housing.
Goal 2 - Find ways to promote the coordination of supports and services that can assist people experiencing homelessness and those at risk of homelessness to acquire necessary skills and make lifestyle changes that can lead to safer and more productive lives.
Goal 3 - Promote and assist in the development of an integrated, coordinated housing planning and development entity to improve the housing stock, at all levels, in Oswego County, managed by collaborative governance.

Currently our County's lead agency in addressing homelessness, Oswego County Opportunities (OCO) is in the process of developing a concept paper to submit in pursuit of funding for architectural plans, land acquisition, and construction of transitional housing units. A sub-committee of the Housing Team is meeting monthly to move this process forward.
